Punta Cana Wedding

The Caribbean Boat Ride

We weren't even sure whether or not we should bring our cameras when Melody and Enrico told us and everyone else who attended their wedding to meet them in the lobby of our resort at 10 a.m.  I'm glad we did, though, because they took everyone on this amazing boat ride where we got to snorkel, swim with sharks (yes, sharks!), and just in general have an awesome time snacking, drinking, and swimming around in the warmest water I've ever encountered outside of a bathtub.  I grew up swimming in pools and the lakes in Minnesota, so I was pretty shocked when I got in the water and didn't immediately feel all of the air in my lungs constrict.  Phi was doing video, so he stayed on the boat, but I put my camera down when it came time to snorkel.  It was pretty amazing.  There were whole schools of tropical fish and we even saw a stingray!  I was a little more reticent when it came to getting in the water with the sharks, because I'm absolutely, completely irrationally terrified of them.  Our guides, however, assured us that the sharks were completely harmless and not at all the type of sharks that prefer to dine of photographers.  I believe their name in Spanish translates to "Cat Shark" and they had small  mouths, small teeth, and were clearly uninterested in me.  That being said, at one point one of the sharks turned and started swimming towards me and I shrieked into my snorkel and swam away from it as quickly as possible.

As I do not have an underwater housing for my camera, I can't offer any photos of my underwater adventures.  I did, however, try to make up for it by taking a ton of photos of the party we threw on the boat.  In case you can't tell, it was crazy fun.

Phi kept his camera with him the whole time, but I just had to get in the water a few times.

Melody and Enrico's Gorgeous Beach Wedding

This was one of the most unforgettable weddings I've ever shot.  It was in the Dominican Republic, so, naturally, the location was stunning, the styling was beautiful, and Melody and Enrico are just so completaly in love. The wedding was small and intimate, and everyone who was there was just so thrilled to be there to celebrate with Melody and Enrico.  They had the ceremony in two languages, since Enrico and his friends and family are German, and I have to say it was one of the most touching and simultaneously hilarious ceremonies I've ever had the pleasure to see.  Melody and Enrico have some pretty awesome, and eloquent, friends and family.  Congrats you two!  True love.

So yeah, the Caribbean...

We shot Enrico and Melody's engagement sessions fall of last year and it was definitely one of my favorite shoots of the year, so we were crazy excited when they hired us to shoot their wedding in the Dominican Republic.  The wedding was this past Monday, and wow, it was so beautiful!  Enrico and Melody are two of the most amazing people I've met and they're just perfect together.  It was such a huge honor to be there and catch their whole, beautiful ceremony with my camera.  We only returned to LA this past Wednesday, and I've been going through the photos since then.  I am so excited about this wedding!  Here's a quick preview of a few of the beautiful moments from Enrico and Melody's Dominican wedding.

Yeah, the sea is actually that color.   I couldn't believe it.  I've only ever seen an ocean that color in photos.
